Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year. My name is Jeannette Aerts, and I am your child’s first grade teacher. I am a graduate of Western Michigan University. This is my twentieth year teaching.
I grew up in Albion and graduated from Albion High School. I have been married to my wonderful husband Greg for 34years. Greg and I are the proud parents of two sons, two grandsons and one granddaughter.
My goal is to create a safe, caring, learning environment for your child. It is my hope that your child will feel comfortable to answer questions, take risks, and know they will be heard. This will give them that atmosphere that they need to be successful this year!
Parents/Guardians play a major role in the success of your child in the classroom. Therefore, your child will have the best opportunity to be successful if you and I work together to help them throughout the year. I will keep you updated on the progress of your child. Please make sure to check your child's backpack daily and return any forms quickly. It is important that your contact information (phone #'s, email) is current. You will also want to set a time and a place for your child to study each night. Spend time with your child as they do their homework in case they have any questions. If you have questions please feel free to contact me.
Your child is allowed to bring a water bottle into the classroom. I ask that they bring only water to drink.
Communication between a child’s parents or guardians and the teacher is very important. My classroom door is always open. Please feel free to call me at school (629-9166, ext. 6103) or call me at home (629-5419). You can also e-mail me atjaerts@marshallpublicschools.org. Your questions, suggestions, and comments are always welcome. If you are interested in volunteering in our room, please call or e-mail me or just stop by. I am looking forward to working with your child and helping them toward a successful year.
Sincerely,
Jeannette Aerts, 1st Grade Teacher Marshall Public Schools Harrington Elementary
